History of Shah Latif School and Its Distinguished Educators
*Inception and the First Academic Session (1981)*
In March 1981, Pakistan Steel Boys Secondary School was formally established, later renamed Shah Latif Boys Secondary School. At the time, a new academic session had begun, but no official principal had yet been appointed.
Prior to this, there was an existing school in the Russian Colony (P Block), where the children of Pakistani employees of Pakistan Steel Mills received their education. With the commencement of the new academic session, all these students were transferred to the newly established school, and Mr. Asghar Malik was also reassigned there. Being the most senior faculty member at the time, he was appointed as the interim principal.
Shortly thereafter, Mr. Abdullah Zakir was officially appointed as the first principal of Pakistan Steel Boys Secondary School (Shah Latif Boys Secondary School), while Mrs. Fakhr-un-Nisa Mahmood was appointed as the principal of Pakistan Steel Girls Secondary School (Allama Iqbal Girls Secondary School).
*Leadership Continuity and the Principalship*
Following Mr. Abdullah Zakir’s tenure, no permanent principal was appointed for an extended period. Instead, various teachers were temporarily entrusted with the responsibilities of the principalship. At times, faculty members from Shah Latif School itself were appointed as principal, while on other occasions, educators from the Cadet College were assigned the role.
Over the years, several notable educators served as principals of Shah Latif School, including:
- The late Mr. Abdul Muqeet Warisi
- Mr. Nazimuddin
- The late Mr. Zaheeruddin Malik
- The late Mr. Yaqoob Siddiqui
- The late Mr. Syed Abdul Khaliq
- Mr. Junaid Majeed (from Cadet College)
All of these individuals played a vital role in the growth and development of the school and its students.
An Overlooked Principal in Historical Records
It is also important to highlight a notable omission from the official record of principals — Mr. Sultan Nusrat. He, too, served as principal of Shah Latif School after being transferred from Cadet College. His absence from the principal board is a significant gap that deserves to be corrected in the historical account of the school.
Shah Latif School – A Legacy of Excellence and Dedicated Educators
Shah Latif School has consistently upheld high academic standards, and its faculty have served as the backbone of this achievement. This institution is not merely a school; it is a tradition, an identity, and a cherished legacy nurtured by the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts of its remarkable teachers.
Thousands of students have passed through its halls, later excelling in diverse fields. Today, Shah Lateefians continue to honor the sacrifices and contributions of their teachers with the deepest respect.
This tribute is dedicated to all the extraordinary educators who illuminated generations with the light of knowledge.
